My Inquiry Question
How can I provide Te Reo Māori me ona Tikanga, and link contexts back to Aotearoa, in order to support an increase in engagement?

In Term 3, I will be trying to included a learning opportunity, provocation and/or independent activity that features Te Reo into every section of our class timetable.

The video shows students in my class working independently on literacy tasks. In the foreground, the students are matching words in Te Reo from their guided reader to their English translation.

  1. So, I still feel Te Reo is lacking in my class. I think i have to prioritise it. How can this be met in every area? My first step will be to make it a part of my planning in a stronger way.

  2. Some good feedback - Whānau report their children are speaking and singing the Reo at home. Also I have observed students teaching their parents the English meanings of words and phrases displayed on our classroom walls. Pretty cool!
